A memory leak occurs in the TN3270 Server when using SSL and a
tn3270 client does not complete the SSL negotiation (in this
case, because it did not recognize the server's certificate).

Visible symptoms are that the TN3270WN.EXE process memory usage
slowly increases in size. Eventually, all client connections are
lost and no new clients can connect. The windows system event
log may record:
TNS0024E  The system call (ERR_CREATETHREAD) returned an
unexpected return code (12).

Local fix

  • Stop and restart Comunications Server.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED: All using TN3270 Server with SSL.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
A memory leak occurs in the TN3270 Server when using SSL and a
tn3270 client does not complete the SSL negotiation (in this
case, because it did not recognize the server's certificate).

PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The leak occurs in an error condition with SSL involved.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been corrected to properly handle the error condition.

Temporary fix

  • tn3270wn.exe tn3270d.dll
