APAR status

Error description

  • shmtest goes into an infinate loop on a 64bit linux system.
Works correctly on a 32bit system.

Local fix

  • This fix is included in 8.0.1 fixpack 3

Problem summary

USERS AFFECTED:
shmtest hangs when run on a 64 bit version of Redhat
****************************************************************
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The shmtest utility gets caught in an infinite loop when run on
64 bit Redhat.
****************************************************************
RECOMMENDATION:
ble for DataStage 7.5.3.  The fix is scheduled to be in upcoming
fix pack releases (8.0.1 fix pack 3 and 8.1   fix pack 1).
This change is included in 8.1 Fix Pack 1.

Problem conclusion

  • Since DataStage on Redhat is still a 32 bit application,
prevent shmtest from attempting calculations which exceed a 32
bit address.
