Error description

  • Information Server 8.1
    Windows Server 2003 SP2
    SQL Server 2005

When trying to add a COMPARISON filter in Query Builder, the
list of columns is not displayed until the first condition is
added manually. After the first condition is added, there is a
list of columns to choose from.

The list should be populated with the values for any table that
is in the query without manually adding the first condition.

Local fix

  • Manually add the first condition.

This fix is included in 8.0.1 fix pack 3

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
SQLBuilder GUI fails to show the table columns in the predicate
drop-down list for the COMPARISON predicate.
This is a GUI issue and is independent from server platform.
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
In SQLBuilder, if a table is used that contains a reference to
another table (foreign key), and the referenced table does not
exist in the repository then the columns of the table does not
appear in the predicate drop-down for the COMPARISON predicate.
    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
Install the patch for this APAR.
This change is included in 8.1 FP1
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • When building the columns information, the tools was trying to
access the referenced table and failed the lookup as expected
but it then stopped adding the columns. It will now continue to
populate the drop-down with the columns.

Temporary fix
