APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Job design is very simple like "Seq1->Trans->Seq2".
NLS map(JPN-EBCDIK-KEIS83) of Seq1 is the one based on
JPN-EBCDIK-KEIS83 and some characters are added in it.

Mapping error occurs in multi-byte data even if there is no
    un-mapped characters.

Local fix

  • - use "Allow per-column mapping
    or
    - use fixed length format

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Server customers using sequential files and NLS
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
If a multi byte character is split across a buffer boundary then
    a mapping error can occur.
    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
Apply patch JR38648, or install 8.5 FP2 or later.

Problem conclusion

  • Areas of the server sequential file stage have been reworked to
resolve several issues. This has entailed handling multibyte
quotes and column separators at the internal level. Note this
has not changed the external handling of these components. In
addition the per column mapping code has been modified to
correct its handling of quote characters so that the
functionality is as per the non per-column case for this
functionality. A change has also been made to the handling of
input buffers to use the column and row separators to try and
find a good split point rather than trying to handle the
possiblity of a multibyte character being split across buffer
    boundaries.
    APARs resolved: JR38648, JR38211, JR31002.
