Error Message: JVMJ9GC063E Unable to open file 'c:\directory\gc.log' for writing JVMJ9VM015W Initialization error for library j9vrb24(3): Failed to initialize Could not create the Java virtual machine. . Stack Trace: N/A . When the filename given to -Xverbosegclog fails to be created, the VM fails to initialize and does not failover to STDERR as per the Diagnostics Guide
Ensure that the full path given to -Xverbosegclog exists and can be written to by the JVM.
The problem is caused due to the verbose logging not attempting to create the directories for the GC log or failing over to STDERR
This defect will be fixed in: 6.0.0 SR10 5.0.0 SR12 FP5 . The JVM has been updated to attempt creation of the missing directory structure and if this fails it will place the verbose GC output or logging to standard error (stderr) . To obtain the fix: Install build 20110418 or later
