Error description

  • Error Message: The ebcdic string "CCVT" is leaked each time the
    method
    Java_com_ibm_crypto_hdwrCCA_provider_HIKM_SetupCardInformation
is called inside the z/OS Java hardware cryptography provider (
    IBMJCECCA ).
On systems where the IBMJCECCA provider is installed the leak
may result in native memory problems. When combined with the
Language Environment malloc header, this leak is 12 bytes in
size. In a HeapPool environment, the leak may manifest as large
numbers of HeapPool extents for the size containing these
    entries.
    KEYWORDS:
ibmjcecca.jar hdwrCCA SetupCardInformation java memory leak
    .
FIXED IN JAVA 5 UNDER APAR PM27331

Local fix

  • If the 4 byte native memory leak is affecting your system, you
can revert to the Java software Cryptography Extension provider
    ( IBMJCE ).
NOTE: This leak does NOT affect Java Heap storage. This is a
leak within Language Environment heap memory.

Problem summary

  • A 4 byte memory leak occurs in the method
    Java_com_ibm_crypto_hdwrCCA_provider_HIKM_SetupCardInformation()
of the IBMJCECCA provider on z/OS.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    6.0.0 SR9 FP2
    .
The 4 bytes of memory are no longer dynamically allocated. The
memory leak will no longer occur.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20110216 or later

Temporary fix
