• Error Message: A symbolic link is not resolved to a real path.

  Stack Trace: N/A
  .
  mkdir /tmp/realpath
  ln -s /tmp/realpath /tmp/LINKTO
  cd /tmp/LINKTO
  Do some actions to access the symbolic link path
  touch /tmp/realpath/file
  Use getCanonicalPath() to access the file
  It will show a symbolic path, not a real path
  

Local fix

• -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false
  The cache logic can be disabled by this property to prevent
  caching a wrong path.
  

Problem summary

• The problem is caused when symbolic link is used in a particular
  senario on IBM iSeries system.
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  5.0.0 SR12 FP3
  1.4.2 SR13 FP8
  .
  JAVA has been updated to prevent symbolic link error on IBM
  iSeries system.
  .
  To obtain the fix:
  Install build 20101029 or later
