Error description

  • Error Message: java.lang.NullPointerException

Stack Trace: Exception data: java.lang.NullPointerException

at java.lang.String.<init>(String.java:83)
at a.b.SampleClass.sampleMethod(SampleClass.java:NN)

Local fix

  • This issue can be worked around by using
-Xjit:{a/b/SampleClass.sampleMethod*}(disableNewStringPeepholes)

Problem summary

  • An unexpected NullPointerException was thrown from inside the
String class after JITing.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
6.0.0 SR9
5.0.0 SR2 FP2
.
NULL string handling code is changed to avoid the occurance of
this NPE.
.
To obtain the fix:
Install build 20100918 or later
