    When Java GUI application is started with CJK locale
    on RHEL6's TigerVNC server, following message in displayed.
      "Cannot load fonts for IMF."
    

Local fix

  • Set FORCEDEFVIS environment variable to 0.
    

Problem summary

  • TigerVNC server provides more than one 24bit TrueColor X11
    Visuals.
    Even if default visual is 24bit TrueColor, Java may pick up
    non-default visual.
    Then Java may not create X11's window for Input Method
    Framework.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    5.0.0 SR12-FP2
    .
    Java tries to check default visual first.
    Then check the other visuals.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20100903 or later
