IZ80886: JAVA 6 CRASH IN JIT RUN-TIME LIBRARY

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Error Message: A SIGSEGV/ABEND is received by the JVM when a
  compiled Java method calls another method which has been
  recompiled recently. The problem is only seen with Java 6
  running on 64-bit z/Linux.

Local fix

• This issue can be worked around by disabling recompilation with
  the -Xjit:optlevel=warm option. Note that this may cause a
  significant performance degradation in the application.
  

Problem summary

• The problem is caused by a rare code path taken by the JIT
  compiler while updating the address of a method that has been
  recompiled.
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  6.0.0 SR9
  .
  The JIT compiler has been updated to correct the recompilation
  logic.

  To obtain the fix:
  Install build 20100730 or later
