Error description

  • Error Message: DLPAR commands on AIX takes more execution time
to complete the operation when JVM is trapping the RECONFIG
signal generated by the DLPAR command.
    .
    Stack Trace: N/A
    .

Local fix

Problem summary

  • JVM signal handler for RECONFIG signal is not acknowledging the
signal as specified in the AIX documentation for DLPAR aware
applications. Only Java applications that use the
OperatingSystemMXBeanImpl class will register the signal handler
for the RECONFIG signal; this fix will have no impact on
applications that don't use this class.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    5.0.0 SR12
    6.0.0 SR8 FP1
    .
JVM has been updated to handle the signal properly, thereby,
avoiding the execution delay problem being observed with DLPAR
    operations.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20100529 or later

Temporary fix
