Error description

  • Error Message: Error message as reported by customer is a GPF
    when JNI/libj9jvm24.so attempt to write to inaccessible memory
    address.

Local fix

  • The workaround for this issue is to run with
    -Xjit:disableVirtualGuardNOPing. Running with this option is
    expected to incur a performance degradation of 5-10%.
    

Problem summary

  • The JIT would generate incorrect linkage code in some cases when
    invoking a virtual JNI method.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    6.0.0 SR8 FP1
    .
    The JIT has be modified to correctly call virtual JNI methods.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20100608 or later
