Error description

  • IBM JVM cannot display all the Big5-HKSCS chars with NIO
converter.

This feature is to enable IBM JVM to support NIO converters for
Big5-HKSCS characters.

Local fix

  • No work around available.

Problem summary

  • IBM JVM cannot display all the Big5-HKSCS chars with NIO
converter.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
5.0.0 SR12
.

We have proposed a work around by introducing a command line
property, '-Dcom.ibm.nio.useIBMAlias' which can be set to false
so that customer can use ICU4J APIs to display Big5-HKSCS
characters without modifying the application.
