Problem summary

  • When the read API is called on the input stream of JavaComm, the
    API does not return a -1 to indicate failure in case read timed
    out.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    5.0.0 SR12
    .
    The JVM is updated to return -1, indicate an error, in case read
    times out.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20100626 or later
