Error description
Error Message: Character highlighting is not drawn correctly. . Stack Trace: N/A . The problem has shown up as incorrect graphical output, but this issue could be the cause of any problem where an invalid numeric value is being sent to a JNI routine via an 'int', 'short' or 'byte' argument on LinuxPPC64 JVMs.
Local fix
The problem can be avoided by using the following Java command line argument: -Xjit:disableDirectToJNI Using this option may have a slight impact on the Java applications performance as this option will prevent the JIT from optimizing the JNI call out path.
Problem summary
The JIT failed to sign extend register passed arguments when calling JNI routines as is required by the LinuxPPC64 ABI.
Problem conclusion
This defect will be fixed in: 6.0.0 SR9 5.0.0 SR12 . The JIT was modified so that it will sign extend values when calling JNI routines on LinuxPPC64. . To obtain the fix: Install build 20100511 or later
