Error description

  • Under the "VIOS" section for configuring the CEC agent,
    the command syntaxes necessary to configure/start/stop
    CEC agent are incorrect:
    *****
    - cfgsvc ITM_agent_name -attr hostname=name_or_address1,
    Restart_On_Reboot=value, cec=cec_name,
    managing_system=name_or_address2 OR hmcuser@name_or_address2,
    DIRECTOR_HOST_ADDRESS=<director_hostname> (optional),
    DIRECTOR_PORT_NUMBER=8422 (optional), DIRECTOR
    _AUTHENTICATION=Yes (optional)
    Where:
      ITM_agent_name i
    s the name of the monitoring agent.
      name_or_address1 is either the host name or IP
       address of the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server
       server to which ITM_agent_name sends data.
      value must be either TRUE or FALSE as follows:
      TRUE ITM_agent_name restarts when the
           Virtual I/O Server restarts.
      FALSE ITM_agent_name does not restart whenever
           the Virtual I/O Server restarts.
      name_or_address2 is either the host name or IP
       address of the Hardware Management Console (HMC)
       attached to the managed system on which the
       Virtual I/O Server with the monitoring agent is
       located.
      hmcuser is a user on the HMC machine
      director_hostname is the IBM Systems Director Server
       to navigate to using the IBM Systems Director
       Workspace links.
    Note: If hmcuser is not specified, the default user
          is "hscroot".
      Start the CEC Base agent with the startsvc command.
    - startsvc cec
      Stop the CEC Base agent with the stopsvc command.
    - stopsvc cec
      Consult the following commands for additional information:
    - cfgsvc:
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/eserver/v1r3s/
    index.jsp?topic=/iphcg/cfgsvc.htm
    - lssvc: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/eserver/v1r3s/
    index.jsp?topic=/iphcg/lssvc.htm
    - startsvc:
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/eserver/v1r3s/
    index.jsp?topic=/iphcg/startsvc.htm
    - stopsvc:
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/eserver/v1r3s/
    index.jsp?topic=/iphcg/stopsvc.htm
    *****
    The above sections should be corrected:
    1) The syntax provided for cfgsvc in the CEC agent user
    guide should not contain commas separating the attributes.

    Running the command with commas in place will append
    a comma to the values of all the attributes and the CEC
    agent will fail to connect to the HMC.

    The command should be:
    cfgsvc ITM_agent_name -attr hostname=name_or_address1
     Restart_On_Reboot=value
     cec=cec_name managing_system=name_or_address2

    2) A notation needs to be made to explain that the
    order of parameters specified on the "cfgsvc" command
    must be in a specific order. Refer to CMVC defect
    113612 which documents that to circumvent an issue
    with the VIOS command line, the "hostname" parameter
    MUST follow the -attr flag.

    The "cfgsvc" command syntax does not enforce the
    order of attributes.

    3) The "cfgsvc" command syntax should explain that the CEC
    agent name is "ITM_cec" instead of using a generic
    "ITM_agent_name". This product manual is for the CEC
    agent, not a general product manual for multiple agents.

    4) The "startsvc" and "stopsvc" command syntaxes in the
    configuration section should be corrected to show:

    startsvc ITM_cec
           and
    stopsvc ITM_cec

    This way they will be correct command syntaxes that customers
    can actually run, and will also match the command syntaxes as
    documented in the manual under the "Usage" section,

    This can be seen if you issue the "lssvc" command.

    4) The above section also needs to provide an explanation
    for what customers should be specifying in the "cfgsvc"
    command syntax for the "cec" parameter as the "cec_name"
    value.

    If this value can be determined by a specific command run
    on the AIX LPAR or VIOS partition, provide an example
    of the command used to determine the "cec_name" value.
