Error description
Error Message: A SIGSEGV/GPF is received when a JIT-compiled Java method throws a NullPointerException, and the JVM is running with the -Xrs option set. The problem only occurs on Windows. . Stack Trace: N/A .
Local fix
The issue can be avoided by not using the -Xrs option, or by setting the environment variable TR_DisableEBPasGPR=1 prior to invoking the JVM.
Problem summary
The -Xrs option forces the JVM into "reduced signal" mode, which prevents the Java just-in-time compiler (JIT) from optimizing null checks. On Windows, this means that one of the hardware registers in the CPU must be reserved for a null check, but the JIT compiler was not correctly reserving this register.
Problem conclusion
This defect will be fixed in: 6.0.0 SR8 5.0.0 SR12 . The JIT compiler has been updated to prevent the crash from occurring during a null check. . To obtain the fix: Install build 20100323 or later
