Error description

  • Error Message: The WebSphere nodeagent on Linux Power 6 machine
    shows constant high CPU (about 25%).
      If verbose GC is turned on, the verbose GC log shows the GC is
    invoked almost every half second.
      If the trace com.ibm.ws.management.nodeagent.PidWaiter is
    turned on, the trace log for the nodeagent indicates the
    PidWaiter appears to be pinging servers about 22.5k times a
    minute.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused by the fact that the VM assembly code
    calls a libc function (sleep) with a mis-aligned native stack.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    5.0.0 SR12
    6.0.0 SR8
    .
      Sufficient alignment in the native stack is now maintained.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20100307 or later
