Error description

  • Error Message: JVMDUMP012E Error in System dump: cannot find
core file: "No such file or directory". check "ulimit -Hc" is
    set high enough
JVMDUMP032I JVM requested Snap dump using
    '/test/Snap.20091207.140721.6092.0002.trc' in response to an
    event

    Stack Trace:
    .

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The "sysctl -w kernel.core_pattern" command allows a user to
modify where all core files on a system are generated. However
the JVM did not respect this setting, and gave a misleading
error message referring to "ulimit -Hc".

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    5.0.0 SR12
    .
The JVM has been updated to respect the kernel.core_pattern
    sysctl.
Note that the %t modifier is not supported.
    .
Core files will be written to the directory specified by the
kernel.core_pattern sysctl and can be used for problem
    investigation.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20100218 or later

Temporary fix
