Local fix
Problem summary
In the Java plug-in when using an automatic configuration script such as .pac file, for determining the address of an HTTP proxy, the Java Webstart crashes. The reported problem was observed in 5.0 after upgrading from 142 Java.
Problem conclusion
This defect will be fixed in: 5.0.0 SR11 . The proxy pac script uses the IsInNet function, which calls the DnsResolve, which causes the vm crash when running this with java web start. So the crash is resolved by loading the dnsResolve implementation from a different ActiveX Object, depending on whether java plugin or JavaWebStart is currently running. . To obtain the fix: Install build 20090809 or later
