IZ55334: JRIO KEEPS ENQUEUE AFTER ABEND

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Error Message: Long running application process failed with a
  MVS abend code E37-04 while an enqueue was held on a shared PDS
  member.  The application did not allow process to exit via RTM.
  When the same application process attempted to access the same
  PDS member later it could not because the enqueue was still in
  place.

  Was forced to stop and restart the long running application
  process to free it's own enqueue on shared resource.
  

Local fix

• None.  Stopping the application and restarting it to free any
  enqueues JRIO is still holding on behalf of the application.
  

Problem summary

• Long running application process failed with a MVS abend code
  E37-04 while an enqueue was held on a shared PDS member.  The
  application did not allow process to exit via RTM.  When the
  same application process attempted to access the same PDS member
  later it could not because the enqueue was still in place.
  

Problem conclusion

• This defect will be fixed in:
  5.0.0 SR11

  JRIO has been updated to catch MVS abends during open, write,
  flush, and close processing.  This will allow control to be
  returned to JRIO exception handler for release of any enqueues.
