APAR status

Error description

  • db2 gets OS I/O messages in db2diag.log. No crashes or failures.
DB2 function normally. Just these messages appear in db2diag.log
from time to time when trying to attach to db2 instance.

The entries in db2diag.log look like this:

The issue occurs when db2 tries to obtain a lock on a seed file
.ftok


The traces collected during the attachement will show multiple
calls to sqloflock function within a loop trying to lock .ftok
seed file.

The seed file is getting locked with Shared Read only mode where
it should have been locked as Shared Write mode and this causing
OS I/O error.
