Error description

  • Tape_Drives.Address is represented as decimal instead of
hexadecimal addresses. A conversion option is necessary so that
the attribute value can be referenced as hexadecimal. Function
like RANGE for the field do not allow hexadecimal values to be
evaluated in a Tivoli Enterprise Portal Situation.

We opened this APAR with the Omegamon XE on z/OS Agent to start
the process to look for the correct architecture change to allow
the hexadecimal address to be used in a custom situation.

Problem summary

  • The Range Properties dialog does not accept hex values even when
entered with the 0X prefix indicating the following characters
    represent a hex value.

For attributes, like z/OS tape drive addresses, that are
typically represented as hex values, it should be possible to
enter the start and end of range values as hex numbers.

Problem conclusion

  • The Range Dialog was modified to accept hex values denoted by a
0X prefix, e.g. 0X000A is the hex representation of the decimal
value 10. The dialog is launched from an expression predicate
cell when the 'See if a value is within a range' option is
chosen from the function selection list or when a cell with an
existing range value is double-clicked. The option is available
for numeric attributes on the Threshold, Filter, and Query
Editor panels. If the attribute is of hex type, the dialog will
show the start and end values in hex with a 0X prefix. When the
dialog is dismissed, the values are converted to decimal and
returned to the cell in the internal comma-delimited list
format. Values entered without the 0X prefix will be
    interpreted as decimal.
