Error description

  • When Running REORGCHK with Large Number of Tables a PACKAGE
    CACHE overflow condition happens. For example

         ADM4500W A package cache overflow condition has occurred.
    There is no error but this indicates that the package cache has
    exceeded the configured maximum size. If this condition
    persists, you may want to adjust the PCKCACHESZ DB configuration
    parameter.

     The cause of the package cache overflow is
    due to the execution of sysproc.reorgchk_ix_stats('S','SAPR3').
    It appears the overflow occurs because, unlike a large
    proportion of the other SQL, the SQL in reorgchk_ix_stats
    doesn't use parameter markers (?). It causes more than 400,000
    statement inserts & 400,000 statements deletes from the package
    cache. The customers might experience performance hit while this
    activity is occurring

Local fix

  • Increase the Cache

    Example:
    $ db2 connect to <database>
    $ db2 update db cfg using PCKCACHESZ 25600
    $ db2 terminate
    $ db2stop
    $ db2start
    $ db2 connect to <database>
