Error description

  • 3.7 fp2

When viewing discovery status through the GUI

Discovery Details tab, Ping Finder progress, Current Address
    always shows 'null'. 3.7 fp2.

The Current Address field would change and was functional in
    3.6.

More specific information in the change from different versions.

Continued looking into this issue... It seems like there was
    a code
change from 3.7.0.11 onwards which might effect the
    m_CurrentAddress
    field of the pngFinder.status table.

I've attached output from running a query on the
    pingFinder.status table
on both 3.7 and 3.6 databases.

    3.6 below.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: There was a bug in the ping finder code *
    * that updated the internal database *
    * containing the status of an individual *

    * GUI. The current address within the *
    * sweep was always displayed as NULL. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

    ****************************************************************
There was a bug in the ping finder code that updated the
internal database containing the status of an individual subnet
    sweep.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem was fixed by resolving the bug. The current address
in the subnet sweep is now regularly updated and should be
    displayed within the GUI.
