IZ02760: MANAGER SERVER PURGE PROCESSING REQUIRES EXCESSIVE DISK SPACE.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Nightly purge processing requires too much disk space for
  database logging. From IBM R&D, problem appears to be that no
  intervening COMMIT is done between successive DELETEs of 50,000
  records at a time, which ultimately generates logging for all
  20,000,000 records purged nightly.
  
  Solution:  Provide intervening COMMIT after each DELETE and
  provide new parameter in keg.properties for number of records to
  remove on each DELETE.

Problem summary

• The ManagerServer was modified to purge an SQl Server database
  in chunks rather than in one hit. That is the way it is
  currently done for DB2 and Oracle databases.
