IY86443: PROBLEM W/ PURGE UTILITY BECAUSE OF LARGE FILE SIZE
Closed as program error.
New functionality needs to be included in the Manager Server's purge functionality to include an option to select when to execute the purge process (current functionality executes the purge at 12:00 pm GMT, which translates to 6:00 pm CDT - this is still within Discover's defined business day). Additional new functionality needs to be included to control how much data gets purged at one time. The current functionality purges ALL data that meets the defined purge criteria (purging an entire day's or multiple day's worth of data in one DB2 transaction). This is very inefficient, and has been blowing up DB2 due to volumes. Logic must be incorporated into the Manager Server purge criteria to split up the purge into smaller chunks of rows. Some suggestions - purge by a configurable or pre-defined number of rows, purge by hour of day as opposed to an entire day or multiple days at once.
Tivoli Web Segment Analyzer product's purging of database function causes to fill the transaction log causing the DB2 database to crash.
