APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: Typical symptoms are segmentation faults in JIT
compiled methods or in the GC or VM modules, although crashes
may occur in other modules that execute Java code or access Java
    objects.
    .
    Stack Trace: N/A
    .

Local fix

  • The problem can be worked around using the
-Xjit:disableAllocationInlining option. Using this option may
    moderately reduce performance.

Problem summary

  • JIT compiled methods that contain object allocations may be
incorrectly compiled, causing a register to inadvertently be
overwritten in certain cases, which can lead to crashes. This
    issue only affects POWER platforms.

Problem conclusion

  • The JIT compiler has been fixed to avoid the problem by
correctly preserving the contents the register in question.
