APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: hwkeytool error (likely untranslated):
java.lang.NullPointerException
.
Stack Trace: N/A
.
NullPointerException when using hwkeytool -genseckey to create a
new symmetric key in a PKCS11 keystore.

Local fix

  • Secret keys can be created for PKCS11 using the gskkyman command
or by generating them programmatically.

Problem summary

  • NullPointerException in hwkeytool -genseckey with PKCS11
keystore

Problem conclusion

  • hwkeytool -genseckey has been updated to prevent this
NullPointerException.
