Error description

  • Multiple AIX binary coredump because they are taking
    "random" EBB branches. This is because of bug in pmsvcs
    thread
    context management.
    
    This happens in power-8.
    

Local fix

  • Temporary fix is to have power 7 compact mode.
    

Problem summary

  • multiple coredumps of random processes with power8 and
    java 1.8 above.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Fixed the pmsvcs to handle the EBB context management with
    kernel mode counting.
