Error description

  • Failure Data Capture (FDC) files from the MQ repository manager
process (amqrrmfa) can grow larger than is necessary, in rare
cases when many records are being written. This data is useful
to IBM support, but it is not necessary to have it repeated with
    this frequency.

A mechanism is needed to reduce the amount of data so that a
dump of the in-memory data is only performed for the first
failure and again at most once per day.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users in very rare situations when the repository manager
process is failing in its processing and writing many FDC
    records per day.

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
In this scenario, one memory dump is needed, and afterwards
potentially one more per day. Memory dumps were being generated
with a higher frequency than this, which was undesirable due to
the resulting increase in the size of the FDC files.

Problem conclusion

  • The queue manager's repository manager diagnostic code has been
changed to limit the data dumped, as described above.
