Problem summary

  • The existing verification error messages, such as the
inconsistent stack shape message, are cryptic and make it
difficult to diagnose bytecode issues in classfiles.

Problem conclusion

  • The JVM has been updated to enable/disable more detailed error
messages for verification by specifying the option
-XX:+/-VerifyErrorDetails on the command line.  The more verbose
messages are enabled by default.

   8    SR2 FP10  (8.0.2.10)
