  As of  IBM 7.0 SR6 FP1/IBM 8.0 GA and onwards for 7.0/8.0
  release, IBM Java informs the user when their Java maintenance
  level is more than 6 months old.
  Unlike Oracle, the IBM Java sdk doesn't attempt to verify
  whether the user's Java maintenance level has any Critical
  Vulnerability Exposure fixes pending.
  To stop the built in date expiration, enable the following
  property in deployment.properties file:-
  deployment.expiration.check.enabled=false
  

Local fix

• The crash is not observed if we pass any JVM command line
  options during the launch of webstart application. For eg.
  javaws -silent test.jnlp
  javaws -verbose test.jnlp
  

Problem summary

• The crash use to happen as there was a jump to wrong address
  from JDK's gtk_message_dialog_new function. The reason for the
  illegal jump was the wrong declaration of JDK's
  gtk_message_dialog_new function.
  

Problem conclusion

• The JDK has been updated with the correct declaration of
  gtk_message_dialog_new function.
