IV75564: JVM SEGMENTATION ERROR IN JIT MODULE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Error Message: A segmentation error is produced by the JIT
  compiler when trying to invoke a JCL native method.
  .
  Stack Trace: N/A
  .
  The value in the register which causes the segmentation error
  will look like CPU instructions.
  

Local fix

• If the problem is specific to a method, it can be worked around
  by excluding the compilation of that method using
  -Xjit:exclude={package/class.method(signature)}
  Note that this may impact performance.
  

Problem summary

• This problem is caused by a very small timing window within the
  JIT compiler where it is possible for a JIT compiler internal
  data structure to get updated in between uses of that data
  structure. The result is the wrong value is passed to the JIT
  compiler helper function used to invoke JCL native methods.
  

Problem conclusion

• The JIT compiler has been updated to prevent the incorrect value
  from being passed to the helper function used to invoke JCL
  native methods.
