IV74768: ON LINUX, WEBREPORTS CRASH IF LANG VARIABLE IS NOT SET

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• On Linux, WebReports fail to start and crash at startup, if LANG
  variable is not set on the system.
  
  At startup, WebReports load the language defined on the system
  and if no language setting is specified within
  beswebreports.config file, the LANG environment variable is
  read.
  
  However, if LANG variable is not set, WebReports crash.
  

Local fix

• As workaround, customers can set the LANG variable on the Linux
  system or modify the WebReports startup script
  /etc/init.d/beswebreports to add the required variable export
  inside the start() function:
  
  start() {
  ....
      export DISPLAY=:0
      LANG=<customer_env_language or empty>
      export LANG
  ....
  }
  
  Changing the startup script, keep in mind it will be overwritten
  whenever you apply a WebReports patch.
