Error description

  • L3 told me to create this APAR as they already fixed it.

When you have multiple, overlapping shifts displayed on a
Schedule the Craft Hours needed bar on the Resource Hours and
    Availability tab quite often disappears.

    Reproduced on 7507 and 7601.

    Steps to replicate

    1. Create a new Calendar from January 1 to Dec 31 of this year.
    2. In Maxdemo you can use Select Action - Define/Apply Shifts
to apply Shifts Day, Comp1 and Night (or Evening) to the
Calendar. You want a combination of Shifts that will
overlap in time. Day is from 7am-3pm and Comp1 is
       7am-11pm so those 2 overlap.
    3. Go to Crafts and choose any Craft or make a new one.
    4. Associate Labor to that Craft, for each Labor put on the
Calendar created in Step 1 and one of the Shifts applied in
       Step 2.
    5. Create a WO with a duration of anything, such as 6, and on
Planned Labor give it the Craft choosen in Step 3.
    6. Go to the Scheduler and create a new Schedule.
    7. Give it the Calendar from Step 1 and all 3 Shifts from Step
       2.
    8. Give it a Start Date of a few days in the future.
    9. Create a Work Query for the Schedule that selects the WO
       made in Step 5.
    10. Save.
    11. Click on the Gantt View tab.
    12. In the lower half of the Gantt View tab click on the Load
        and Availability tab.
    13. You will see Availability bars for the number of Labor on
each Shift for which you associated the Shifts. If you
put Labor on just the Day and Comp1 shifts you will see
Availability bars just for those 2. You will also see a
bar for the Craft usage. Usually that bar is orange.
    14. Now click on the Resource Hours and Availability tab.
    15. You should see basically the same type of data. An
Availability bar for each Shift with Labor on it and a
        Craft Hours Needed bar.

But that is the bug. Often you don't seen the Hours Needed
bar. If you do see it, slide the bar around on the top half
of the Gantt View and at certain times of day the Hours Needed
bar will appear and at others it will disappear. For me right
now, when the bar is starting at 2pm you can see the Hours
Needed bar but when I move it so it starts at 3pm the Hours
Needed bar disappears. It is gone at 4pm and 5pm but
when I move it to start at 5:15pm it re-appears.

Local fix

  • Move the start times of the Shifts so they are not at the same
    minute
