Error description

• Error Message: When pkcs11 memory management is enabled
  (default), sporadic <Object<PIPE>Key<PIPE>Session> is invalid
  messages are seen doing Cipher operations following a Cipher
  operation that generates an exception (e.g. ShortBufferException
  or IllegalBlockSizeException).
  The problem does not occur if the Cipher exceptions are not
  thrown.
  Problem is seen with Java 6, 7 and 8.

Local fix

Problem summary

• When pkcs11 memory management is enabled (default), sporadic
  <Object<PIPE>Key<PIPE>Session> is invalid messages are seen
  doing Cipher operations following a Cipher operation that
  generates an exception (e.g. ShortBufferException or
  IllegalBlockSizeException).
  The problem does not occur if the Cipher exceptions are not
  thrown.
  Problem is seen with Java 6, 7 and 8.
  

Problem conclusion

• A hardware session handle was incorrectly being closed following
  the exception thrown.  This hardware session handle was again
  being closed during the cleanup of the Java session object.
  The code has been modified to ensure that only the Java session
  class will clean up the hardware session handle when PKCS#11
  memory management is enabled.
