IV74067: JVM CRASHES IN JIT MODULE DURING START-UP IN EMULATED 31BIT ZLIN UX OS

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Error Message: A segmentation error occurs during compilation
  when the JVM is in the start-up phase running in an emulated
  31bit zLinux OS.

  Stack Trace: N/A
  .
  This only affects the JVM when running in an emulated 31 bit
  zLinux OS environment.
  

Local fix

• This issue can only be worked around by disabling the JIT
  compiler with the -Xint option.
  

Problem summary

• The problem is caused by the JIT compiler relying on the Linux
  uname command to determine if the hardware is 64bit.
  

Problem conclusion

• The JVM only supports 64bit hardware therefore the query was
  invalid and the JIT compiler was modified to remove the query to
  prevent the segmentation error in this circumstance.
