Error description

  • Error Message: When running the jdmpview "info thread" command
    on a core dump of the IBM JVM the command takes a long time to
    run or never terminates.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The jdmpview "info thread" command handled JVM core dumps
    containing large numbers of threads inefficiently. If the number
    of threads was of the order of 10,000 or greater the command
    would not complete in a reasonable amount of time.
    The number of threads within the JVM can be determined from
    other diagnostic tools, for example a javacore.txt file.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The "info thread" command has been modified to perform better
    when there were many threads.

       7    SR9 FP 10 (7.0.9.10)
       6 R1 SR8 FP7   (6.1.8.7)
       8    SR1 FP10  (8.0.1.10)
