Error description

  • Error Message: When opening a zOS system dump, the
    sdk/bin/jdmpview tool issues the usual "Loading image from
    DTFJ..." message but does not produce the subsequent messages
    that list JVMs found in the dump, and never returns a prompt to
    the user.

    Java dumps obtained from the JVM
    that is running the jdmpview
    tool show that the tool is looping while reading a chain of zOS
    CIB control blocks in the dump (method DsaStackFrame.findCib()).
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The problem is caused when the the DTFJ core dump reader
    encounters unexpected data in the system dump.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The DTFJ core dump reader has been updated to prevent the loop
    from occurring.

    This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:

       7 R1 SR3 FP10  (7.1.3.10)
