Problem summary

• When running Linux as a guest on z/VM, it is possible to
  configure z/VM to masquerade the underlying machine as hardware
  of a different generation. This can cause problems with the
  processor detection logic in the Java JIT compiler, and can then
  result in crashes with Illegal Instruction exceptions.
  

Problem conclusion

• The JIT compiler has been updated to use an improved algorithm
  for determining available processor facilities.
