Local fix
The number of garbage collector threads can be manually set by the user using the "-Xgcthreads" option. For example, to set the number of garbage collector threads to 3 use "-Xgcthreads3"
Problem summary
The number of garbage collector threads, reported as "gcthreads" in the verbosegc log, is the system processor count instead of the number of processors available to the java process (e.g. when process is run with limited processors using taskset on linux).
Problem conclusion
The number of garbage collector threads is now set to the number of available processors. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 8 SR1 (8.0.1.0) .
