IV71718: JAVA JIT- SIGSEGV OR NULLPOINTEREXCEPTION
Closed as program error.
Error Message: SIGSEGV from Java when running with -Xrs. When running without -Xrs on a x86 platform the SIGSEGV would be interpreted by the JVM as a NullPointerException. Other platforms like Power and zSeries would show a SIGSEGV when running without -Xrs. . Stack Trace: N/A . The problem has only ever been observed with Java 7.1 but we believe that the problem is possible in other releases. It could be that the problem is less likely to occur in other Java releases.
-Xjit:disableTreeSimplificationIf the above option does not avoid the problem then this APAR does not apply to your problem. The use of this option may have a small impact on performance but it's unlikely to be more then 1%.
The JIT would set a flag stating that a value is non-negative when in fact a negative value is possible.
The JIT was modified so that the non-negative flag is cleared when the possibility of a negative value exists. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 7 R1 SR3 (18.104.22.168) 6 SR16 FP4 (22.214.171.124) 7 SR9 (126.96.36.199) 8 SR1 (188.8.131.52) 6 R1 SR8 FP4 (184.108.40.206) .
