IV70354: POLLER CANNOT RE-INITIATE THE SNMPV3 HANDSHAKE

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • ITNM 3.9
    poller cannot re-initiate the snmpv3 handshake where the
    devices engineId changes after initial access is discovered.
    currently ncp_poller does not support the re-doing of the
    snmpv3 handshake to learn the new engineId.
    

Local fix

  • Restart poller
    

Problem summary

Problem conclusion

  • ITNM Poller will reset the engineId and send out a new access
    discovery PDU to the device so the SNMPV3 USM parameters can be
    renegotiated and stored.
    

Temporary fix

  • As a workaround without the software solution a restart of the
    ITNM poller process will clear the issue should it occur.
