APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
In some cases, running param <variable> (to get the value associated to <variable>) after running param <var*> (to get the values of variables having similar names) returns an incorrct value, that is the value of another variable in the jm_variables file.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Tivoli Workload Scheduler users using * * param command to manage entries in the * * jm_variables file. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In some cases the value returned by * * param is incorrect * * * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem may occur when the jm_variables file contains several enties. If the param command is run with a filter returning several entries, for example param a* and after that with a filter returning a single variable, for example param aVariable it is possible that the value assigned to another variable (for example aVarNum10) is returned. The problem is due to an error in the caching mechanism implemented in the agent code when the param command is run.
Problem conclusion
This apar will be fixed in 8.6-TIV-TWS-FP0004, 9.1-TIV-TWS-FP0002 and 9.2-TIV-TWS-FP0002
Temporary fix
Run the command with a filter returning several values redirecting the output to a file and look for the variable value searching in the file.
