Error description

  • ITNM 3.9 FP4
    
    Ping Fail events receive false Clear events as the devices are
    treated as oout of scope. After a while the devices are treated
    as in scope again and anothe Ping Fail event is generated.
    The process repeats.

    * A change in the handling of clear events for Ping Poll       *
    * failures introduced in ITNM 3.9 FP3 IF0001 and FP4 onward    *
    * has resulted in                                              *
    * ncp_poller clearing ping failure events for devices that are *
    * still in failed state.                                       *
    *                                                              *
    * A clear event (ping restore) is seen in the AEL for devices  *
    * who are still not responding to pings even though they are   *
    * still being monitored as required by user.                   *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Upgrade product and following additional readme instructions *
    * for enabling new flag in the NcPollerSchema.cfg              *
    *                                                              *

Problem conclusion

  • Before restarting ITNM following the fix application update
    $NCHOME/etc/precision/NcPollerSchema.cfg
      update config.properties set
    ClearPingFailAlertsDeletedEntities = 0;
    
    This will avoid the issue from re-occuring.
