  • Error Message: Unhandled exceptionType=Segmentation error

Local fix

  • -Xjit:disableGRA will prevent the problem, at a significant cost
in performance.

Problem summary

  • In a certain unusual case, the jit compiler failed to detect
that the live ranges for two variables overlap, and incorrectly
assigned both variables to the same machine register.

Problem conclusion

  • The JIT overlap detection logic has been corrected so it detects
this case, and will assign the different variables to different
machine registers.

This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:
   7 R1 SR2       (7.1.2.0)
