APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: Segfault in the libj9jit module during AOT
compilations.

Stack Trace: N/A
.
Failure occurs on 64-bit x86 platforms, and can occur whenever
AOT method bodies are being generated, but is particularly
likely to occur when running options like -Xaot:forceAOT,
-Xaot:count=0, which result in an increased number of AOT
compilations. Original failure was seen running WebSphere
Liberty using -Xaot:forceAOT.

Local fix

  • Disable AOT, or do not run in AOT-intensive modes, like
-Xaot:forceAOT

Problem summary

  • The problem was caused by an incorrect branch in the x86 codegen
that resulted in an AOT-specific codepath being executed
incorrectly.

Problem conclusion

  • The JVM was modified to correct the above-mentioned conditions.

This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases:
   7 R1 SR2       (7.1.2.0)
   7    SR8       (7.0.8.0)
