Error description
Error Message: N/A . Stack Trace: N/A . The JVM continues to burn CPU without making progress.
Local fix
The issue can happen only when using AOT code (enabled by the -Xshareclasses command line option) and can be circumvented by using -Xaot:disableSharedCacheHints
Problem summary
When using AOT code (enabled by -Xshareclasses option) the JIT can encounter a race condition which leads to a perpetual attempt to schedule a recompilation of an AOT method. The thread involved is not making any progress while burning 100% of a CPU.
Problem conclusion
This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 7 R1 SR1 FP1 (7.1.1.1) . The JIT compiler has been fixed to eliminate the race condition leading to the livelock.
Temporary fix
-Xaot:disableSharedCacheHints
