Error description
Error Message: The JIT compiler raises a segmentation fault or S0C4 ABEND while compiling java/util/HashMap.roundUpToPowerOf2(I)I. The VM flags are 0x0005ff05 as reported in the javacore dump. . Stack Trace: N/A . This issue affects both z/OS and z/Linux platforms when running on z990 GA1 hardware or older.
Local fix
This problem can be avoided by setting the JVM option -Xaot:exclude={full method name} for the method that is causing the issue. However, it may cause some performance degradation.
Problem summary
The problem is caused by an optimization of array store type checks.
Problem conclusion
This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 7 R1 SR1 (7.1.1.0) . The JIT compiler has been updated to handle this case properly.
